 New For 2005
just what the world needs: another newsletter

Here it is.  The first edition of the monthly salesmeeting has just appeared on your computer.  I hope you find it useful, interesting or at least not obnoxious.  Each month I'll try to address a few sales, marketing, and advertising ideas.  Nothing earth shaking, but just a few nuggets that might be useful.  If you have suggestions, ideas or even a humorous idea or joke, don't hesitate to send it to me at don@streetsmartselling .com.  If it makes me look good I'll use it.

Back To Work

Summer's over and it's time to get back to work.  (I don't believe for a minute, that anybody works to their full potential during the summer.  This is especially true here in Maine.)  Have you mapped out your marketing or sales strategy for the fall?  With all the turmoil in the economy and the bad news coming out of the gulf coast, now is the best time to re-think your strategies and plan out what you want to achieve and how you're going to do it.  If you take the time now to make an outline of where you expect to find business, how much revenue you want to generate, and a list of potential prospects and clients, you have a much better chance of reaching your goals.  It doesn't have to be complicated.  Keep it simple, and don't take all day to do it.  Put together a short outline, make a few notes and then move on and act on it.

Forgotten Clients

We all have those clients or customers who have done business with us in the past, or continue to do business with us, but are on "automatic".  They don't require a lot of attention or servicing.  Those are the clients we tend to forget. Don't do it.  Make a list and set a plan to make contact with those clients or customers over the next 30 days.  If you're not paying attention to them at some point someone else will.

Observations

I was getting ready the other morning to attend a business meeting.  I did the usual, brush my teeth, shave and brush my hair and hit it with some hairspray before I dressed.  Just then I remembered a quote an old friend told me several years ago.
" Once you're past forty you no longer comb your hair, you just arrange it. "  I am sad to report that it's true.

Don Speaks

I'll be speaking at the Maine Business Conference & Expo in Portland on Thursday Sept. 29.  The workshop I'll be conducting is Creative Marketing Secrets To Build Your Business' Brand and Increase Your Revenue.  Come by if you get a chance.
